Salmiak (ammonium chloride) is a rock salt. It is industrially produced for the food industry, a white sour-salty tasting fine granulate. A maximum of 7.99 percent salt is permitted in the recipe, this must be labelled as "Extra strong adult liquorice - not children's liquorice".Diogenesverlag has published a picture book by Hazel Brugger and Thomas Spitzer. It is a large-format collection of entries from their blog ‘Deutschland was geht’ (Germany, what's up?), lovingly illustrated by Jannes Weber. Even if you don't know the blog, it's still fun to look at because the characters and the colourful hustle and bustle on the ostrich farm, in the gym, on the beach or at the weekly market have been captured in a lively way. Speaking of the weekly market: kadó is immortalised there with a LiquoriceLiquorice is a natural plant product of the liquorice root. Its black colour comes from the vegetable carbon dissolved in the cooking process. Pure liquorice tastes sweet-tart, bitter. The consistency is hard as candy. stand, and Ilse-bilse is standing casually in front of it, talking shop with the customers –  aww.
